Class 02 Animation, Coffee and late night tweaking

Hey Guys so Class 02 has been hectic to say the least!! But a lot of fun and soo much learning.
My mentor this term is Peer Lemmers he went to AM too and now is at Dreamworks!! Hes really cool and has an eye for detail that helps me out a lot!
I have 2 assignments that i have finished and will be posting now would appreciate comments as always!!

Planning week 03

So this is our first animation assignment week!, a simple bouncing ball but still planning for it is so interesting, we learned a lot about planning in our lecture this week and i am uploading a simple test i did using a method Bobby Beck showed us in the training videos.

So I just submitted my first assignment last sunday, im putting up my sketches and my final pose.

Also, Im uploading 2 other poses I did from those sketches!

My 2nd QnA

So just had my second QnA with Chad Stewart!!
Was awesome talked about the 12 principles of animation, the fundamentals!!
Saw the difference between animation done with those principles and done without and how it effected the performance!!
Got a short crit from Chad which was really helpful!!!
Of to do some sketching this week for the first pose with Stu!

First QnA!!

So I had my first QnA with my first ever Mentor Chad Stewart!!
It was great fun!! We all introduced ourselves and gave a brief background as to where we are from and what we've been doing! Really like the diversity in my class!!
Chad seems really knowledgeable as a mentor looking  forward to learning from him and my other classmates this semester!!:D

New Flight test!!

Hi!
So ive been developing a short story recently for which I needed to study how a helicopter flys...heres a simple test to see the mechanics used in helicopter flight put to use on a character with a tail!
Its not perfect yet but I am happy with the first pass now!
Storyboards should be up soon along with the planning for this test!:)

So I am in the planning phase for a new very short animation and here is a concept art thing I did quickly to just see what kind of place I wanted for my character to be in and the shot is at the 'dilemma' phase where he is considering as to how hes going to get past his obstruction!

First small Animation test with planning!

So this is my first bouncing ball test I have done with planning in Maya.
I have been animating for a year now in internships but haven't really appreciated the need for planning till I joined AM and saw some of the Alumni Videos, hope to make this a regular habit in my animations!

Comments always appreciated! (Would like to stress that this test is NOT  for the assignment that will be given by AM once classes start on June 28th!)

Hey! New Image! Yay!

Hey guys!
So I spent a few hours working on this new image I am not completely happy with it yet, but I took the theme of 'Happiness' and thought of different ways to show it.
The Parent Child combination stood out to me the most and so I decided to go with it!
I am also posting the 'sketch plan' for this still frame!:)

Someone washing their feet outside a swimming pool hated the fact that I was drawing them but stood still long enough for me to capture the posture!

First Maya still image

So I went through 2 stages to make this image, first I thumbnailed a desired sketch I wanted then use that as reference to make this in Maya!

So Here is one of my first drawings that I did about a week ago, did it on an iPad with a small stylist, the challenge was to try drawing without palm support as the iPad is a multi touch device and thus you have to be careful with your strokes!

Hi! My first post as a registered AM student!!:D

So I am starting Animation Mentor this Summer 2011!!
So excited! Cant wait! I have been animating now for almost a year professionally and have through my internships found that I really want to do Character Animation!!!
So I have started this blog as road map for myself through my time at Animation Mentor to see how much I learn out of the experience, I'd appreciate any and all comments by anyone who ever does view this blog both negative and positive!:)
